As can probably be seen, my diaries have had a rather depressing tone over the last couple of months. It all started when a nice job with my school district's print shop ended. Granted, I'm not the best graphic designer on the block, but everyone I knew there seemed to be very happy with my work and progress. I still keep in contact with the manager there, as it seems he wants me to stay within the district.
The problem with jobs like these is the fact that, despite getting experience, they never seem to lead anywhere. I've tried to explain this to people time and time again, but doing so seems to go nowhere very quickly.
The goal of the agencies I work with to find jobs is just that, but it seems as though we disabled folk here in the states are just little more than a source of temporary or low wage workers who have little to no chance of getting anywhere. Of course, you'll hear all the time about how companies love working with disabled people, but it's easy to see that it's all bullshit once we do get in there.
Despite all the 'help' people say we're lucky to get, we still have to deal with the glass floor, and something tells me this isn't changing anytime soon.
See you around,
Homer
