While online education took off and reached the far ends of the earth which has been good... A number of students don't finish the courses. A few instructors have no clue as to how to handle the dropout rate in these courses. First lets look at some of the reasons.
1. Some find out after just a few lessons that the course just wasn't right for them.
2. Students that have lots of drama in their life have a hard time assigning time to their class.
3. Students with medical issues may not be able to keep up with the steady pace, and loose place often.
4. Students complaining that the course goes from steady beginning learning to advanced too quickly, and sometimes without explanation of certain material.
5. Some students find the instructor annoying.
6. Students have issues with balancing their time for online courses and real life.
7. Students say the course is boring the instructor adds nothing to keep the class lively.
8. poor video
9. poor audio
OK so there are other reasons for dropping out and the masses here at KOS can sort them out. But what about the students who do want to finish, what type of advice has KOS got for them? How can you turn these nine negatives into positives?
For number four I suggest the student search online for the missing content. I have done this myself. Although not all courses will have that option, but many of them do. There is also your local library. Friends, forums, IRC, and clubs make a good start too.
