Received this e-mail today from Congressman Ron Kind (R. WI-03) who has a bone to pick with Governor Scott Walker (R. WI) regarding BadgerCare:
Across Wisconsin, we will be paying more for health care.
That’s because Governor Walker refused to expand BadgerCare, forcing 77,000 of our neighbors off their current health care plans. According to a report by Citizen Action of Wisconsin, families across our state will see dramatic increases in their health care rates because of Walker… when they really need a break.
And now Walker is trying to cover his tracks. Last week at the last minute, he proposed a three month extension for Wisconsinites who are losing BadgerCare. It is too little, too late!
Walker had the opportunity to strengthen BadgerCare, save Wisconsin money and guarantee affordable coverage for low-income Wisconsinites. Who wouldn’t jump at that opportunity?
But instead, Walker played partisan politics with Wisconsin families of Wisconsin, tightening Medicaid eligibility and saying no to a federally-funded expansion of the program.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, Wisconsinites will likely pay almost double what their neighbors in Minnesota are paying for health care. WHY? Because Governor Walker said no, when Minnesota said yes to affordable health care.
Wisconsin’s middle class families shouldn’t have to foot the bill for Walker’s political gamesmanship.
Join me in telling Governor Walker that this isn’t good enough for Wisconsin. We deserve quality, affordable healthcare and now he needs to fix it.
