"Hey, at least I'm not on food stamps."
In case you missed it, late Wednesday night, the convicted cocaine user from Florida, Republican Rep. Trey Radel—who
voted last year to require drug testing for food stamp recipients—held a
press conference to announce that he was taking a leave of absence from Congress.
Radel stuck to his talking points throughout: He had "no excuses," he's taking "full responsibility," he hopes to become "a better man," he's "struggling," he's "getting treatment," he needs to "regain the trust" of everyone in his life, and hopes to be "a role model for millions."
He ignored repeated questions on whether or not he had ever been high while voting in Congress and headed for the door as a reporter said:
You voted to drug test people who have food stamps …
Go figure.
In short, you didn't miss a thing.
