Today, in a largely party line vote, the U.S. Senate voted to eliminate the filibuster for Presidential nominees except those involving the Supreme Court. The vote was 52-48 in favor of eliminating the filibuster in these instances.
On behalf of those who agree with this move, I want to send a big shout out to the Tea Party and their financial supporters for making this important Senate rules change a reality. Without their help, Senate filibuster reform enacted today would have been impossible.
Jump into my virtual Delorean, pulling up now, and lets take a trip back in time.
Six words: Sharron Angle, Todd Akin, Christine O'Donnell.
Without their prodigious political prowess as candidates (and their faith-based adherence to policy positions which make most Americans gag), the GOP would have had three more votes in the Senate today. That's the ballgame.
I wonder if there are any Republicans, outside of strategist Steve Schmidt, who will even mention the role of the Tea Party in enacting filibuster reform? Doubt it, as self-reflection is something that seems to be verboten over on that side of the political spectrum.
So, just among ourselves. Let's enjoy the news tonight. Sit back on your favorite chair or sofa. Turn on the TV to watch the political pundits on the right running around like chicken little. And take your favorite beverage, hoist it up, and let's toast the Tea Party for this important victory.
I leave you with an important message:
She's not a witch. She's you. hahahahaha.
Be well, everyone!
