So... I'm not even awake a full hour here. Sipping that first coffee & makin' breakfast, I hear this NPR story on Chris Christie's role as head of the Republican Governors Association. The point that leaped out & smacked me in my still-caffeinating head came via this quote from Christie's comrade-in-harms, former MS Governor (& former RGA head himself) Haley Barbour:
Haley Barbour, the former governor of Mississippi and former chair of the Republican Governors Association, says Christie's focus will be on winning governors' races by contrasting Republican governors' records with that of the current president.
"We Republicans will be tickled for the public to look at the difference between Christie's record in divided government and Obama's record in divided government," Barbour says.
Will you. Will you really. Because I cannot effing wait for the rollout of this strategery, as all Democrats will need to respond is this:
We agree that there is a stark difference in the records of Christie & Obama passing their agendas when the other party controls part or all of the legislative body. And that's because Democrats are not obstructionist, but actually sincere in working to make our government work well at state & federal levels, whereas Republicans openly said their goal was for Obama to fail, & then worked to make that happen regardless of the cost to the nation.
As usual, Democrats: make it partisan, make the toughest accurate arguments, & win as a result, whether with or without--or against--corporate campaign financing.
