This year's LA Auto Show was special. Special in a way that the presented new cars were not only for celebrities, but cars that average people can attain. Celebrities were there too, but just to give special effects. For example World's fastest man was there to debut Nissan GT-R Nissmo, or Maria Sharapova to debut the new Porsche Macan.
Auto industry is making a big come back this year and will be a very important part of the US economy again. In fact, GM, free of government control, once again, underscores this notion.
Many good small cars were introduced this year. Cars that average people can buy. This is why I loved the LA Auto Show this year. Here are my 5 favorites.
1. Cadillac Elmiraj
It was good to see GM coming up with a new Cadillac. The car was already known in the past 12 months, but it was nice to see it there. But it's sad to hear the coupe canceled and the car may not be built. But, that's usually the case with number of concepts.
2. Honda FCEV concept. Good green car. It may just be a concept, but the production and sale is already planned in Japan for 2015. Good news for Honda lovers. I loved FCEV's futuristic design.
3. 2015 Subaru WRX
Good car for average daily commute. But as Torque News notes, Subaru's new legacy concept has a better look than the WRX. However, the technical metrics are there and the car has a nice look. After the much hyped concept the expectations were higher.
4. Chevy Colorado
Gotta have at least one truck in my favorites for our truck lovers. Beautiful look, not too big, looks like, as Christian Science Monitor notes, the era of mega trucks has picked. Now Toyota and Nissan have a new serious competition in the midsize pickup market in the United States.
5. VW e-Golf
One year from now, in the Fall of 2014 the 2015 eGolf will go on sale in select US states. The price on this new car has not be announced by VW, however, it may be eligible for up to $10K buyer incentives from state and federal sources. In fact as LA Times writes "The VW is among four significant plug-in vehicle debuts at this year’s L.A. Auto Show. Elsewhere around the Los Angeles Convention Center, General Motors was scheduled to roll out the Cadillac ELR, based on the Chevrolet Volt; BMW showed off its i3 battery electric; and VW’s luxury division Audi rolled out a corporate cousin of the eGolf, the Audi A3 e-tron."
Which one is your favorite from this list? Or do you have a favorite from this year's LA Auto show that is not mentioned here? Let me know why you liked that car.
