Tonight was the first showing of the 50th anniversary celebration episode of Doctor Who.
This is going to be brief diary, There will be a longer one later.
At 9.00 am this morning I joined the queue thith thousands of others at the Excel centre in London. We were there i common purpose, to witness a small piece of history. There were three pabels, one for special effects, one with several earlier Doctors, Tom Baker, Colin Baker, Peter Davidson and Sylvester McCoy. Tom Baker stole the show right from the very start. Followed by a panel with Steven Moffat, Jenna-Louise Coleman and Matt Smith, they didn't let slip anything.
In the meantime I wandered around tge other parts of the celebration. I met Nick Robatto who created tge Eleventh Doctor'screwdriver along with otger props from the show. Also the creators of the Sonic screwdrivers from the wand company. Richard Blakesley and Chris Barnardo.
P.S. if you want to give an awesome gift this festive season, you could do worse than one of their products.
So I didn't have tickets for the screening. They sold out in munites when they went up on the website. Resigned to watching it on the screen in my hotel room. I was talking witg The Wand Company guys, and showing some fans my sonic screwdrivers. One happened to mention that he had a spare, which he generously let me have.
So at 19.25 I joined 2000 other Doctor Who fans to watch the screening of the Doctor Who episode in the auditorium. It was amazing, The atmosphere was electric. And the show was fantastic. Peter Capaldi made a brief appearance, as did all of the other doctors. Thirteen doctors united to save Gallifrey. At the end Tom Bzker made a cameo appearance in the museum with Matt Smith. And then it was over.
See you all soon.
