Here's something that will warm the old heart cockles (that is, if you're like me and cranky and old enough to remember when this was a big holiday). Seems like the big, big majority of people seem to think fondly upon Thanksgiving, and want to keep it just for it. Either that, or most people are like me and would rather stab themselves in the eye with a crudite fork than
deal with holiday crowds.
Just 13 percent of Americans who plan to shop in stores over Thanksgiving weekend say they’ll be heading to retailers on Turkey Day, down from 23 percent last year, a Deloitte survey released Monday found.
A poll released Monday by the University of Connecticut had similar findings—9 out of 10 respondents in that survey said they wouldn't shop on Thanksgiving Day.
Thank you, 90 percent of America. The remaining 10 percent are probably the people who are
being forced to work in the 300 shopping malls that will be open on Thanksgiving Day. At least they won't have to fight huge crowds to get some shopping done on their breaks.
What about you? Take the poll.
