It's that time of week again.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
And another Friday the 13th coming up in a couple of weeks. I believe the next one after that is in June - which will also be the date of a full moon.
I scrubbed my kitchen floor on Friday. Have I mentioned that my cat is a remarkably sloppy eater? Possibly not. Well, he is - bits of cat food all over. I think I will move his dishes farther back into the broom closet where I keep them. I don't know if it will help, but I'm not putting them in the bathroom - I go THERE in the dark much more often.
We had a fun Thanksgiving. Dinner was well worth eating - my daughter is a fine cook, if I do say so that taught her - and she enjoys experimenting. The mashed potatoes were particularly good this year. The company was interesting and the kids well behaved. I got the stripped down carcase - I paid for the bird and she knows I like to make my own soup.
I went back over Friday evening to see who was there to help with the leftovers and got to listen to the histories of several people who used to hang out at my place when they were teenagers. Some of them are doing quite well; some of them are dead; a couple are homeless; most of them are somewhere in between. I also was finally told about my oldest-and-dearest throwing somebody out of my daughter's home who was trying to start a fight. Apparently the young idiot never thought the old fat guy would have enough muscle to get him out the door.
My parents didn't stop by on their way back north after all. Ask me if I was surprised.
I babysat my grandson Saturday morning so my daughter could go in to work for a few hours - they're doing the rollout of a new computer system soon and there's a whole lot of stuff that has to be finished first. My granddaughter had an overnight with the family that came to help eat the leftovers, so I didn't have to worry about her.
After my kid got home, I went to a fabric store I go to sometimes and found exactly the shade of burgundy I was looking for to make some new pants for myself. I also found some that was slightly darker and very soft - and, after I found a pen in my purse and did some quick calculations, I figured out that, with the "30% discount on everything" that was plastered all over the store, I could get both, so I did. I have no idea when I will actually do any sewing, but it should be fairly soon. Not only have I decided against doing my berserker baking this year, I have both Christmas and New Year weeks off.
I still have the rest of the floors to do, but actually paying attention to who's commenting here will give me an excuse to stop occasionally.
