So claims Larry Kudlow about the new Pope:
[...]
Kudlow -- a self-described devoted "church-going Catholic convert" -- went further, saying that the pope is wrong and "free-market capitalism is on the right side of the Lord."
So [Jon] Stewart turned to a higher authority -- Jesus (as relayed by Matthew): "You cannot serve both God and money."
So
claims Bilbo 'Baggins' O'Reilly about Nelson Mandela:
'He was a communist, this man,' O'Reilly said during his Thursday night discussion with Rick Santorum on the O'Reilly Factor.
[...]
'He was a communist, all right?' said O'Reilly. 'But he was a great man. What he did for his people was stunning… He was a great man, but he was a communist.'
So
blathers Rush Limbaugh about the Pope and President Obama.
Radio commentator Rush Limbaugh attacked Pope Francis' letter, condemning the pope's comments on the "new tyranny" of "unfettered capitalism" as uninformed and somehow planted by the Marxist movement.
"This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope," Limbaugh declared.
Yet Rushbo was not full of himself yet, on the "help the poor" - 'love your neighbor' topic, so he felt the urgent need to
blather on (aka "dig deeper"):
Limbaugh’s comments were prompted by Obama’s earlier remarks on income inequality and the economy, during which the president cited Francis. [...]
“How can it be, he wrote, that it’s not a news item when an elderly homeless person dies of exposure, but it is news when the stock market loses two points. But this increasing inequality is most pronounced in our country. And it challenges the very essence of who we are as a people.”
This set Limbaugh off. “This is the president citing the pope, his new best friend, because the pope is ripping America, the pope [is] ripping capitalism,” Limbaugh exclaimed. [...]
Funny shifting-definitions on speed-dials, they have there.
Because ... it was not so very long ago, when the things advocated by the Pope, by Mandela, and by the current Democratic President, fit quite neatly in the monicker of being a
Compassionate Conservative:
Compassionate conservatism is a political philosophy that stresses using traditionally conservative techniques and concepts in order to improve the general welfare of society.
[...]
Compassionate conservatism has been defined as the belief that conservatism and compassion complement each other. A compassionate conservative might see the social problems of the United States, such as health care or immigration, as issues that are better solved through cooperation with private companies, charities and religious institutions rather than directly through government departments. As former Bush chief speechwriter Michael Gerson put it, "Compassionate conservatism is the theory that the government should encourage the effective provision of social services without providing the service itself."[11]
The way these (not-so Compassionate) Conservatives are now running to the convenient cover of calling everyone a "Communist" -- should make everyone ask them if they've ever read the Christian Parable of the
"The Sheep and the Goats" ?
Because here's the not-so-convenient punchline, for those unbridled Capitalists, now cloaked in their 'were-so-much-better-than-them' Sheep's Clothing:
[ Matthew 25: ]
[42]For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, [43]I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
[44]“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
[45]“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
I think the follow-up
punchline goes:
[ Matthew 7: ]
[23]Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Uh-Oh Rush! That really doesn't bode well for you (and your Capitalist Comrades) -- What with your
Multi-Million dollar Camels trying to squeeze your always
self-righteous Needles.
Better ask the Pope for a ride-along, the next time he's out "helping the poor" ... you can pay for the gas, Dude. Afterall, you CAN afford it.
It's the Least you could do.
