I'm not. I've never liked Christmas. I'm an atheist, never celebrated as a kid and still don't.

The rush to buy people a bunch of crap they don't want or need has always amazed me.

Even special Christmas dinners for the less fortunate have never made sense to me. Why not use the same amount of money to provide them with food for a month?

So, I was quite disappointed to find out from google today that 95% of Americans celebrate Christmas. Even those who are not Christians. It's just so in my face there is no escaping it.

The same is true here on Daily Kos. At last glance there were 5 Christmas diaries on the Front Page. The Community list had 2. The rec list 3. Most shared 4 and on Recent diaries I lost count after 15.

So it would seem many of you are feeling that Christmas glow.

I have a suggestion of where to shine your little Christmas light. As one of the Secret Santa's. Check any of the diaries. We have almost accomplished out goal.

And as I said in an earlier diary, the goal was two fold, it was to help support our many artisans here on DKos (and that money helps them for longer than one day) and to help members here get a few pretties.

So when Poz is gifted with 2 Pootie Pads, his cats get quite a thrill, he gets to feel joy watching them with the pads and Sara R and Ann of Winglion get money to pay the bills.

Even as an atheist I have been able to shine a bit about this. I have given to 5 different Secret Santa gifts. Not much, I live at the poverty level, but I was able to give some. Others I tipped and rec'd to help get the word out there.

It did give me a bit of a glow. If you're looking for that feeling these are remaining donations needed:

Remembrance   $$80.40        to edrie
ann                     $35.00 + s/h ($15?)

sara                    $35.00 + s/h ($15?)  both to aji and wings
spirit of life          $maybe another $100?  to marko the werelynx

For a beautiful diary on what it feels like to be gifted by a Secret Santa read here.

So whether you are in the 95% majority or in the 5% like me who does not celebrate, you can still help pass on a little bit of joy. And it doesn't even take money, a tip or rec will do just fine!

8:02 PM PT: Sara and Ann's are COMPLETED!!! Hooray.

Remembrance's is down to only  $60.40 needed

and Spirit of Life still at $100

9:48 PM PT: Only $85 needed on Spirit of Life
  $60.40 for Remembrance

10:15 PM PT: Only $50.40 need for Remembrance
         $85 for Spirit of Life

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
