Well, it is here, at last.....the end of Matt Smith's time as the Eleventh Doctor. Once again, Trenzelore is the setting. We've already been here before with the Eleventh, of course, when the Great Intelligence was thwarted, thanks to the brave actions of Clara. Now it is time...time for regeneration. No more fish fingers and custard - no more bow ties - no more 'Geronimo'!
Peter Capaldi is an excellent actor, with a splendid resume, plus he is no stranger to either 'Dr Who' or 'Torchwood', however, there is a lot riding on his shoulders.
Overall, there appears to be a negative impression...here are three quotes from various fans on The Doctor Who Site http://www.thedoctorsite.co.uk
"I thought that, as a Christmas Special, this was a little uneven.....and it
dragged as the Doctor aged on Trenzalore!"
"I found the episode very disapointing. There wasn’t really an emotional build up to his regeneration like Tennant’s. Also I didn’t like how he regenerated in a flash and the fact that he didn’t say Geronimo annoyed me. So I was very disapointed but I liked Peter Capaldi’s first scene."
"I agree, I just didn’t think it was a well mapped and thought out episode and was an appalling send off to Matt Smith’s doctor"
OK, everyone....over to you!
