Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! More below the fold:
I was going to skip the weekly today, what with the awesome front-page post Changing the culture of video gaming—gals, gays and people of color by our guildie Denise Oliver Velezgiving us more than enough exposure this week.
Then I got the Team Z raid report from Tvath:
Twas a Winter’s Veil Sunday on server Garrosh
A merry band gathered, with bosses to squash
Came now Jantuk with helm that looked like a Swiffer
and Sardric so cute (though he might beg to differ)
Brumal stopped his journey midway ‘cross the nation
To offer the team some fine tankification
Nztorg with the name that no one can say
and Crakzert with his eyeball staff healing away
Tvath brought the food, some gourmet carts du noodles
(go on, ask her for one, in her bags she’s got oodles)
Two team members were absent for family functions
Without Ginger and Cog, would we be up the junction?
So we called on our founder, a loner named Moody
and Buckshammy subbed in, with healing his duty
Now the Bipolarbear had been sighing of late
that to get a pet drop just wasn’t his fate
So naturally to help him feel even more rotten
His teammates brought out the pet drops THEY’d gotten.
A cute Li’l Bling followed Crakzert around
While Tvath’s new pet Lumpy stayed low to the ground
With an “I hate you all” our talkative shaman
Turned to doing some damage far beyond the common
Bi’s work in the raid was quite instrumental
When asked his secret, he said “It’s elemental.”
The Fallen Protectors came first in the night
And while many have found it a difficult fight
Jantuk called out the targets -- Rook, He and Sun
On our second attempt, we found we had won!
Kitty druid Ettocrut got some boots for her paws
And Buckshammy too got some loot from the boss
Now on through the trash in the once-lovely Vale
It’s a wretched sight now, but ‘twas no time to wail
For inside the cavern stood Lorewalker Cho
Who found us a fight but then had to go
What he does while we’re fighting I never can tell
‘Twould be nice if he’d help when things aren’t going well
Now I’d like to proclaim our next great victory
But alas, this night it just wasn’t to be
At Norushen’s urging, corruption we battled
But the strength of the adds left us all rather rattled
And just as we’d think it was starting to work
We’d run out of time as the boss went berserk
So we called it a night, and our hearts are now filled
with intent to defend the good name of our guild
Norushen’s corruption will soon be defeated
and one day, perhaps, we’ll get this Siege completed.
So I’ll end, at the risk of appearing too cute:
May Greatfather Winter bring you some great loot!

We've got a Team RubiPam report from Pamena as well:
Team RubiPam report:
On Dec. 19th, our last raid night before our holiday break, we welcomed our new raid member Voban, and either he was our lucky charm or we just finally learned how to do this fight, because at last we got Spoils of Pandaria down!!! We are 10/14 in SoO! That is a fight that made us appreciate our raid leader Rubidium even more than we already did - he juggled the dps on each side, changing it up until we finally got the right balance and voila, success!!! We went on to do some pulls on Thok, the giant dino that looks like he was designed by Stephen Spielberg on acid, but we still have some work to do on him - I think we'll get him soon though. This video was posted at WOWInsider and may prove helpful (snerk)

We are taking a break this week for the holiday, but hope to get back to Thok on Monday night, depending on who is able to come.

Don't forget the Saturday Night Naked Kara Run on the 28th! Nina is organizing.
Finally, some words from Pamena about guildies in tough times this year:
Thoughts for guildies in tough times this season:
We have a couple of folks in the guild - at least that I know of, there may be more - who are having some tough times with the health of loved ones right now, and I wanted to give them a special Wreck List hug. Corwynn's and Baelzebabe's mothers are both very ill and in hospital, so everyone please send good thoughts their way.
When I think about all I have enjoyed about and gotten out of this game, right at the top of the list are the friendships I've made among Wreck List members. It's an amazing thing that this virtual world brings people together who otherwise would never have met, and creates a framework on which lasting friendships are built. Our memorial service for Flintpaw in September I think showed all of us how important these relationships can be - and thinking of Corwynn and Baelz dealing with their moms' illnesses now, I'm hoping that the love and support of their Wreck List family can be of some comfort to them both. We are thinking of them both, and sending healing waves their way.

That's what I have this week.
For the Horde!
