I’ve lurked longer than I’ve had an account, I’ve had an account for longer than I have commented, and I have commented for longer than I have written my own diary. I suppose this day was inevitable occurring at the confluence of my increasing rate of activity and my growing boredom today at work. I am not one for writing non technical documents so be forewarned.
My first name is obviously Carlos and as I am a private man by nature that is all that will be said about that. As I have been forced to mention in several comments I am of mixed-race heritage (Latino and Black to be specific) and the reason I was forced to mention it was people made some very plainly ignorant racial assumptions about certain groups of hobbyists and myself. I prefer to be judged on my skills, abilities, and honor and not my skin tone or cultural background.
I am an educated professional living in a major metropolitan area in the east coast of the United States. My occupation has and does require a great deal of travel but no longer requires re-location much to my thanks. Due to the relocation aspect I have lived in quite a wide range of locales for a decent amount of time each. I am over thirty years old and under retirement age. I’ve been blessed with the company of a diverse group of friends spanning the spectrum in values, ideas, skills, backgrounds, cultures, and all of the things that make individual unique and interesting and I have learned a great deal from these friends about many things and shared a great many experiences that I would have been otherwise denied.
I originally came to lurk here in the 2007 primary and 2008 general elections and came back to peruse randomly since then. My interest in these forums as of late has been largely focused on one topic. I find little interest in posting about that which I am in agreement with the majority in any given population. My thoughts are “we agree, perhaps roughly, but we agree so let’s move on”. Since the majority here for some strange reason seems to take a position contrary to the rights of others I find myself ever drawn to defending those rights against that group.
As for my political experience I have run or assisted in the campaigns of Presidential candidates and Congress persons at the national level and a wide range at the local level in the various states in which I have resided. This has given me a rather unique point of understanding of the differences in campaigning in different areas both from the legal perspective and that of the groundwork needed. I do not reveal any more information than this regarding that activity for personal and legal reasons. If you do recognize who I am from working with me in the past please do not reveal any personal information I have not currently shared in this post. Thank you.
