Patti Page (d. Jan. 1, 2013) was actively performing for 64 years, from 1948-2012. She became the first pop artist to overdub her own background vocals and the first to incorporate country music arrangements into her music, a practice tht would copied by among others, the Andrew Sisters.
Patty Andrews (d.Jan. 30, 2013) was the youngest and last surviving sister of a trio that began performing in vaudeville and continued through WWII, becoming one of the most popular acts to tour with the USO. Their influence is still being felt today, from The Manhattan Transfer to Bette Midler to The Pointer Sisters to Christina Aguilera.
Donald Byrd ((d.Feb. 3, 2013) was a jazz trumpeter who encompassed a number of genres in a 45 years career while also teaching at many well known universities.
Andy Johns (d.April 7, 2013) never sang into a microphone (that we know of) but, as a sound engineer and record producer, he helped shape rock music from the 1960's into the present, including, Jethro Tull, Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, Television and others.
Lou Reed (d.Oct. 27, 2013) helped found one of the most influential rock bands in history, The Velvet Underground, and continued to influence music and culture by pushing boundaries in a 49 year career.
