As anyone with eyes can see, the United States is wasting its resources and its talent with regards to employment and the economy. This is being done deliberately, of course, and for many reasons. The one thing I notice everywhere I look, is that folks are saying we don't have enough educated people to fill the need for positions today, or at least, that's what many corporate thieves and their diploma mills like ITT Tech or DeVry are saying.
The truth is this: Here in America, there's no shortage of skilled workers. Many skilled workers have been displaced from their jobs because operations where they work are outsourced to countries with drastically lower living standards and obscene human rights abuses. The excuse? American workers are 'too expensive', or, put simply, it's all about profit, and if that means destroying local economies just so the executives and shareholders can get another red cent in their bonuses, stock options or dividend checks, then that's what they'll do because they just don't give a fuck.
The country has more skilled workers than it knows what to do with at this point since local and state governments refuse to do anything to modernize their infrastructure from our bridges to our delivery systems for medical care with the idiotic red states refusing to accept medicaid expansions or allow for the setup of healthcare exchanges.
Oh, and speaking of healthcare, let's not forget the fact that rather than having a local developer set up the healthcare.gov website, the damn thing was outsourced, just like everything else in America these days because bitchy Republicans want to see a law they wrote fail at any cost because Barack Obama is president. The website also faced huge Denial of Service attacks when the site was first rolled out.
For all their hot air about America being the best country in the world, Conservatives and their corporate billionaire friends sure do have a hard time allowing us to show it with all the acts of sabotage they've committed over the past few decades (Like the poison pill they shoved up the ass of the Postal Service). Of course, we can't talk about that, nor can we talk about how to repair the damage or clean up the mess they made because to do so would be Communism, or Sharia Law, or would kill jobs, or whatever other imaginary boogeyman they decide to pull out of their asses to scare the Conservative faithful into doing something stupid.
Let's just call this what it is: The long dumbing down of society, slashing of wages, and organized theft of the moneyed class, because that's what it is, even if our Conservative neighbors choose to ignore the facts that are in front of them.
We can say that electing more and better Democrats will go a long way toward stopping the theft, and in some respects it might, but perhaps we might have a better chance of doing so if we start here at home.
Okay, I'm done ranting about random stuff.
See you around,
Homer
