CNN's John King is reporting that Liz Cheney is dropping her bid for the Senate.
Cheney’s campaign had gotten off to a rough start, most visibly with jabs traded with her own sister, Mary Cheney, over Liz’s views on marriage equality. (Mary is married to a woman, Liz is opposed to same-sex marriage.) But more to the point of a political primary, Liz’s move to Wyoming from Virginia in 2012, and her association with her famous father made her challenge against a conservative Republican a difficult one. Dick Cheney was a five-time Wyoming Congressman as well as US vice president, and his help in the campaign didn’t seem to be helping, King notes: “Cheney, like her father, is an unapologetic neoconservative who favors muscular use of American military power overseas, a policy that does not sit well with many grassroots conservatives, particularly in the libertarian-leaning West.”
Who knew. A carpet-bagging bigot who would turn her back on her own sister who's family she once sat around the holiday table with? Give it up for Dick Cheney's prodigy.
Please world, let this be the very last we ever hear of the Cheney family.
This deserves my shortest diary ever.
