Fort Lee has a population of 36,000 people.

New Jersey's total population is about 8.8 million.

The mayor of Fort Lee represents less than half a percent of the population, and is a Democrat not inclined to endorse him, and Christie was already pretty much certain of a landslide victory anyway...and he was still THAT angry about the guy not endorsing him???

Who the fuck has THAT big of an ego and THAT thin of a skin???

In the comments on another thread, Addison said, quite simply:

It's not about the votes, it's about sending a message.

...which made me realize who Chris Christie really is:

He's Hopper from A Bug's Life.

Hopper: Hmmm...there was that ant who stood up to me...

Grasshopper: Yeah, but we can forget about him! He was just one ant!

Hopper: You're right! It was just one ant!

Grasshopper: Yeah, boss...they're puny!

Hopper: Hmmm...puny! Say, let's pretend this grain is a puny, little ant.

(throws it at the other grasshopper)

...did that hurt?

Grasshopper: Nope.

Hopper: Well...how about this one?

(throws another grain at the grasshopper)

Grasshopper: Are you kidding?

Hopper: Well, how about this?

(pulls the cover off a huge jug, burying several grasshoppers under a mountain of grain)

Hopper: You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life!

It's not about food, it's about keeping those ants in line. That's why we're going back! Does anybody else wanna stay?

UPDATE: OK, I realize I'm hijacking my own diary here, but I have to make a decision and I need some input.

Please go to the ACASignups.net site and vote in the poll I just posted.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
