The reason that Gov. Christie will not be nominated by the GOP to be president is you cannot run for office when you are sedated. And you must be sedated when you get a colonoscopy. And he will most certainly be getting one, maybe even many between now and 2016. Let me explain.
As many have already said, the old Watergate line, "follow the money" is our guiding rule. Now that the Asbury Park Press has given us our first look at how Christie and Co. use government contracts to better themselves, more are sure to follow. Christie is old school, he thinks government is a tool for his ambitions.
One of the oldest, tried and true ways to use the machinery of government is to use state contract awards. Christie has been in office for four years. In that time, there have been thousands of state contracts awarded. If he was willing to siphon off $2.2 million of Sandy aid to use for campaign commercials, aid meant for his beloved New Jersey shore, then there is no doubt that he and people in his government were willing to give state contracts to his friends and donors, and to block and deny contracts to those who did not support him.
There can be no doubt that this happened. He used this tactic with government grants to cities in NJ as has now becoming widely reported. It goes against logic that he wouldn't have done the same with contracts that went out to private contractors.
Any decent news organization worth their salt will be assigning reporters, and even private investigators to search through all of the state records for all of the contract awards. They will then be matching those awards, and denials, to the records of campaign contributions. FOIA requests are going to be flying everywhere.
Every other possible connection, and their are many, will be used by reporters and investigators to track who is on the inside of Christie's gang, and who is on the outside, who was helped and enriched, and who was screwed.
Follow the money, and you will reach nirvana. In this case, it will be the demise of (insert your pejorative) GOP Governor of New Jersey. Like I said, you cannot run for President sedated and with probes sticking out your ass.
