There's a new farce in town, Susanne Atanus (seriously that IS her name. No jokes about that please. After all my real last name is Greatballsoffire) running against Democrat Jan Schakowsky and her congressional seat.
She claims that we have autism and dementia because her god is bitching about LGBT rights and marriage equality.
She has two claims to fame, perhaps three: She lost her job in 2006 and lost her union based appeal. Then the federal appellate court ruled that she chose the wrong approach to seeking relief. She is also a member of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East, which spells HACACE (which frankly seems preferable to ATANUS)
Lastly, having lost in the last two elections, she scares children everywhere by claiming to be a teacher.
You know she has a winning approach. One look at her website tells you how well prepared she is and how she fully grasps all issues. http://atanusforuscongress.com
That is one all right website. Or, more correctly, all white website, white as in being completely blank.
Here are bits and pieces of her interview with a local paper (Daily Herald).
“I am a conservative Republican and I believe in God first.
God controls the weather and tornadoes are evidence of his wrath."
“God is angry. We are provoking him with abortions and same-sex marriage and civil unions. Same-sex activity is going to increase AIDS. If it’s in our military it will weaken our military. We need to respect God.”
I am glad that god talks to her directly. I am even gladder that she decided that, like Michelle Bachmann, her beliefs entitle her to hold political office. And lastly, I am glad that Illinois is not missing out on the carnival that follows any a GOP primary, especially when at least one candidate is an complete and utter faith based nutcase.
This dementia thing is a new one to me. I knew about the tornados and shit, and that god controls the weather. (Recall how New Orleans was hit directly by that storm? That was god complaining about all the titty bars)
The Raw Story has a decent story on her, as well as her thuggish GOP opponent, who earned an order of protection from his ex-girl fiend. His words, not mine.
