I understand that the press has to talk about something. They're delighted to report that Christie's scandals are scuttling his Presidential aspirations against Hillary.
The problem is that even before BridgeHobokenGate -- I don't think either Hillary or Christie had a real chance of becoming the nominees in their parties.
In my view the Presidential races aren't much more than glorified beauty contests. Speech competitions. Hmm, he sure gave a good speech. He seems so Presidential. Give me a break...
Christie?
He wants you to think he's a centrist type, but that's seriously lose/lose. If he genuinely is a centrist, this alienates him from many Republicans and all the Tea Party loons. If he isn't a centrist, he loses the Independent vote. Either way: he's an obese loud mouth, which usually doesn't do so well in beauty contests or speech competitions.
Christie? Not gonna happen...
Hillary?
She lost once already. Perhaps she lost because national patriarchy prefers a black male over a white woman -- which is a reasonable conclusion when considering that black men got to vote before any women. Still, I'm not so sure that is the reason she lost.
During the 2008 election, I wasn't for Obama. Why? I didn't believe he was outside of the establishment. I didn't like when he bent over backwards to aid Joe Lieberman's dwindling Joe-mentum, and I didn't like when Oprah introduced Obama as the best Democrat or Republican she had ever seen -- or words to such effect.
So Hillary was my gal -- until she stated that it was her turn to be President. That shocking revealing anti-electoral entitled comment ended me ever voting for Hillary. The fact that people in my party are even talking about her running again is myopic, wishful thinking, and naive. "It's Not Your Turn Again, Loser" billboards and ads will be everywhere, signed love and kisses from the Koch Brothers.
Hillary? Not gonna happen...
******
So who's going to get the nominations? I have no idea on the Republican side, but then, I don't spend a lot of time at Home Depot in the used toilets section.
Democrats? I seriously want a woman running. And winning.
Remembering the beauty contest and quality speechification standards within our 'blessed' patriarchy, my money will be on Tulsi Gabbard.
She's more than a pretty picture. She speaks with a confidence and grace that rivals Obama.
She has something almost every other candidate won't have --- and it addresses the core patriarchal fear that she's a girl that doesn't understand big complex male things like war: Tulsi Gabbard served in Iraq.
Hello trump card. Hello surfboard bounced off your opponents head.
When it wasn't cool to be against the NSA, Tulsi Gabbard was very cool --
“Countless men and women from my state of Hawaii and all across the country have worn the uniform and put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms and our liberties,” said Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, speaking in support of the Amash-Conyers amendment to strip funding from the NSA. “I cannot, in good conscience, vote to take a single dollar from the pockets of hard-working taxpayers from across the country to pay for programs which infringe on the very liberties and freedoms our troops have fought and died for. Ben Franklin said, ‘They who give up liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
This won't be a contest if she enters. And I want her and every great Democratic lady to run. I just want everyone else to know what they're up against.
