...this is an open thread. Nothing is off topic.
Diarist's Note: I know that today is Super Bowl Sunday and Groundhog Day. I regret to inform you that this diary is not about either one. I will watch the game for the XLVIIIth time, and I will be rooting for Denver and Peyton. I will, no doubt, hear of Punxsutawney Phil's prognostication. You're welcome to discuss either one here if you wish.
If you wrote your autobiography, what would the title be?
Titles of autobiographies these days are often clever. Gone are the days of dull titles like The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin or The Life of P.T. Barnum, Written by Himself. With the competition for attention in the modern era, autobiography titles have become more colorful. From pop trash like Davy Jones's They Made a Monkee Out of Me to literary classics like Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, almost everything features an eye-catching title. Autobiography titles also tend to reveal their authors to some extent. For example, what do titles like Don't Hassel the Hoff or Courtney Love's Dirty Blonde tell you about their authors?
I will never actually write my autobiography because no one would read it and it's none of your damn business anyway. However, thinking of a clever title is fun. All my life I have felt somewhat baffled by the world around me (Teabaggers, Kardashians, and Humvees don't help), so I thought I could use uncertainty as my meme. Stranger in a Strange Land was already taken, so I had to be creative. I have considered such titles as Could I See Something in an Alternate Universe? or I Should Have Read the &%^$# Directions or the more lyrical I Wonder WTF? as I Wander. Perhaps I should shed my doubt and go for a title that's a bit more profound instead, like Hey, It Beats Being a Flatworm. Or I could opt for something more metaphysical: My Life as a Pastafarian.
I wish I could come up with a catchy one word title. Waylon was a big seller, but I don't think I could use it—even if I added a subtitle. I mean, Waylon: Not my name is just wrong. I considered Inconsequential and even Insignificant, but they seemed to describe my life better as a pair. Maybe I should add a definite article to the word, as in Muhammad Ali's The Greatest. Perhaps The Dullest would work for me.
I don't know. I suppose I could make a play on my real name like Jack Lemmon's A Twist of Lemmon or Wink Martindale's Winking at Life. But then I would have to reveal my real name, and I'm not ready to do that, although my last name lends itself to punning. My Dragon persona requires a separate title from my real self. The title of Dragon's book would be Fool 'Em As Long As You Can.

SFKossacks Welcome Matching Mole and bwren
with a Birding Event Plus Dinner
Last Sunday, matching mole, who flew in from the East Coast, and bwren, who flew in from Seattle, were picked up and chaffeured by the founder of Dawn Chorus, lineatus. She drove them to meet with other SFKossacks and Central Valley Kossacks to do some bird watching in the Grizzly Island Wildlife Area on San Francisco Bay. I'll leave the telling of that story up to lineatus in her Sunday morning series.
I'll be covering the dinner we had that evening to welcome our out-of-towners.
Wow, the standard setters for Daily Kos group organizing just one-upped the bar again! Not only do they meet for socializing, they get themselves on radio shows to advertise the event, they invite local candidates and progressive causes to speak to our Kossacks and then fully cater an event to reward all attendees. Wow. Just wow.
More than 30 Kossacks got together amping up and organizing the Asheville atmosphere for getting out the vote. Here's one photo:
