Sunday again! Funny how that happens about once every week.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
I have been finding life amusing lately. Just little things - like what happened Friday.
My buddy downbuilding had his birthday last week. He turned 61. I left a note on his door promising him a lemon meringue pie for his birthday present if he would be willing to wait till I could shop for the rest of the ingredients. Or other flavor if he preferred. Friday night I was on my way to negotiate weekend use of the car with my daughter and I saw him in the laundry room below her apartment, so I went downstairs, opened the door and said, "Howdy, stranger" (it's been a while since I've seen him - he's working nights these days). He didn't even look up - he just said, "Lemon meringue will be fine."
My daughter has been posting pictures of her kids on Facebook, with occasional commentary. This week's lot has been particularly silly, though it's the sort of silliness that you have to know the people involved to appreciate.
And my oldest and dearest also posts on Facebook. He has a habit of finding things on I Fucking Love Science. And one of them this week was how to calculate the volume of a pizza, if said pizza had a thickness of a and a radius of z. The equation was V = π(z²)a; or V = Pi(z∗z)a.
My daughter sent hers over while I was running my payday errands, and my granddaughter cleaned the cat box unsupervised. She did a pretty good job with the cat box, but the sweeping up after was about what I expected when my daughter told me she went by herself.
