Received this e-mail today from Secretary of State Natalie Tennant's (D. WV) U.S. Senate campaign:
I just returned from testifying in front of the U.S. Senate yesterday. As Secretary of State, I was there to talk about the impact our water crisis has had on local businesses, workers and families.
Here’s what I told them: West Virginians feel betrayed. To this day, many still don’t know if what’s coming out of their faucets will hurt their families.
As a mother, daughter and small business owner, I’m angry too.
West Virginians deserve to know that measures are being taken to ensure this never happens again. The best way to do this is for the investigation process and our government to be as transparent as possible.
We need to demand it. After what you’ve gone through, you deserve nothing less.

I’ve talked with folks across the state about the effect the leak had on local businesses, workers and families, and I hear the same answer over and over again – the leak impacted their livelihoods, and they want to know it won’t happen again.
A hotel employee told me she has given up shifts so that her coworkers with families they needed to support could make up for time lost during the crisis. She was happy to help, and she’d do it again, but she’s not sure how she’ll make up for those missing shifts. I heard from people in Charleston who had to take taxis to get access to clean and safe water – no one should have to take a taxi to get something so vital as water.
West Virginians are owed action and information that assures this will not happen again.
Click here: make it clear we will never accept anything short of complete transparency from our government at any level.

Our voices are stronger when they're united. Together, we’ll send a clear message.
Thank you for standing with me,
Natalie
