A parade and ceramony was held in Seattle on Wednesday. It was to honor our Superbowl
winners, the Seattle Seahawks. What makes this unique is the fact that 700,000 people
were there. That number has to put this crowd among the biggest anywhere.
All were there with one voice, honor our team.

I smiled as I watched and my mind started to dream. What issue would it take to get
this many people to join us and speak with one voice? Hunger?Healthcare?the fact
that our roads and bridges are following apart? how about clean water in America? What
is going on in West Virginia is a huge disaster. Rivers are filled with poison, schools are
shut down. People are getting sick. Maybe THAT would anger people.

All around town,I see flags on cars and trucks with football logo, clothes with  football
logo. People are happy.

Dream for a day when 700,000 will march not for a sports team, but for a better America.
I want to buy a sweator that says "I helped make America better."

People have to show our passion for the World around them. What would have happened if each person brought ten dollars with them for chairty. 700,000 times ten dollars would go along way to help feed people or help with so many causes.

I hope someday,700,0000 people will be willing to march in a cold February day for
something more significantt than to honor a sports team.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

has disappointed me. They've completely failed to link Obamacare to the Denver Bronco's vicious beatdown because of Benghazi something something.

That"s RIGHT! Everything negative in our life is because
of his stupid attempt for health care. One right
wing blog writer called out President a "beast" today.
      Talk about racism!

that depress them.  Like a sports win.  Not everything can be solved with a march.  I think a lot of times you expect people to look at the world the way you do - we wouldn't be in this position if more people did, you know.  So naturally you're disappointed.

I know I was  wishing. 700,000 people would not show up
for anything that can make their life better. Somehow
many here feel THEY won the game. I loose friends when
      I ask,"did you Play?

I listened to every word of the show. Art Pope lives in every
state. I see your point and agree with it. I simply had never
SEEN 700,000 people in tghe same place before. I know
they are from both parties. I promise, I am fighting
as hard as I can to keep Washington state a blue one.
Thanks for letting me watch the video.

  •  I think the only thing that consistently (1+ / 0-)
    Recommended by:

brings out crowds in the hundreds of thousands are championships in one of the four major sports, the NFL, NBA, MLB, or the NHL. I think that's because professional sports unites cities and cuts across all ages, genders, races, and political affiliations. And I think that's what it takes to consistently bring out crowds of a half million or more.

So your saying thats it! every other issue in America, no
matter how serious, will NEVER bring that many folks
together. How sad,Martin Luther King was right;good people do nothing, whle evil does whatever it chooses.
I did say in my tiny diary,it was just a dream of mine that some day people will give a shit.

      •  In my comment I forgot that professional sports (0+ / 0-)

also brings together people of all classes as well. That's the magic of sports. Political rallies are only supported by people who are interested in that particular issue, and tend not to be the type of rally that has broad appeal across class, race, gender, ages, and political affiliations.
