That's an ad in response to the Koch brothers and the record-breaking amount of money the've
already spent against Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan in North Carolina and a handful of other Democrats.
The Kochs have focused their negative advertising almost entirely on the Democrats' support for Obamacare, and insist that repealing Obamacare is still priority number one.
Now some Democrats and aligned groups are fighting back, and using Obamcare to do it. In North Carolina, Patriot Majority PAC is running the above ad. While it doesn't talk directly about Obamacare, it points out all the things that the law has done that Hagan's opponent, House Rep. Thom Tillis, would end through repeal, including the ban on pre-existing conditions, mammograms without copays, and the savings seniors have received for prescription drugs. Patriot Majority has put $500,000 behind this ad, a drop in the bucket to what the Kochs have spent so far, but a good start.
Here's another example that House Majority Pac is running to support Rep. Joe Garcia in Florida, who's also a Koch brothers target:
This one talks about fixing Obamacare, acknowledging the disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov, but ends on the high note: holding insurance companies accountable, ending the ban on pre-existing conditions, preventing them from dropping you when you get sick—all those positive things the law does that people really like. These are the things that the public has always supported, even when they don't know that Obamacare does it. It's smart politics for Democrats to remind voters that Republicans want all this to go away, even if they do it without reminding people that the Obamacare they think they hate is why they have these great new protections.
