Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread (MOT)

We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 0330 am Eastern time.  Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the Auto Publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later: that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Well it is 7.15 pm here in Germany, and I am trucking along at 200 kph (around 125 mph) on a German ICE train between Essen and Berlin, where I have a training gig for the week.

Now I just walked the length of the carriage and did a non scientific poll of what people in this carriage are doing. Of the dozen or so passengers, 2 are sleeping, 2 are playing with smart phones, one is using a kindle, one is reading a magazine, and the rest are on laptops ( yes, our trains have wifi, costs about $7 per day for access).

Now I accept I am traveling in first class, (my customer pays), and I think that in second class you would have more smartphones and less laptops, due to a lower average age.

So today's question is ------

"how do you amuse yourself when traveling?"

And now for the Anoraks amongst you, here is a Yu tube of German High Speed trains.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
