KosAbility is a community diary series posted at 5 pm ET/2 pm PT every Sunday by volunteer diarists. This is a gathering place for people who are living with disabilities, who love someone with a disability, or who want to know more about the issues surrounding this topic. Our use of "disability" includes temporary as well as permanent conditions, and small, gnawing problems as well as big, life-threatening ones. Our use of "love someone" extends to beloved members of other species.
Our discussion threads are open threads in the context of this community. Please feel free to comment on the diary topic and ask questions of the diarist, and also to ask general questions about disabilities, share something you've learned, tell bad jokes, post photos, or rage about the unfairness of your situation. Our only rule is to be kind; trolls will be spayed or neutered. If you are interested in contributing a diary, contact series coordinator postmodernista.

When I started thinking about this topic initially, it was only in terms of small accomodations that we as individuals might make for ourselves, friends or family in the face of some type of disability, like the walking sticks we were discussing last week, eating utensils with thick handles for folks who have issues with their upper extremities, and the like.
But then I remembered something that popped up on DK a few months ago (?) I'm hoping one of you saw it as well. Someone was calling for some team effort to put together a compilation of resources, more as a comprehensive list that people could be referred to, updated on some type of schedule- I think it was more focused on agencies and programs, but still branching from a disability services perspective. Here are 3 quick references from the Google under the search terms "disability accomodations tips and tricks".

So I thought I'd throw this out for discussion tonight. In many ways, KosAbility would be the logical place for such compilations to live, In other ways, sometimes we're dysfunctional enough that we don't really respond well to having to maintain things beyond our own health.
Nevertheless, if such a resource were to exist, what might it look like, what information should be in it? Organized by what criteria?
Alternatively, if anyone has discovered effective workarounds to cope with a disability, brag on yourself below and tell us about it.
