Hello, we have another Sunday ahead of us.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
My cat has turned 16. He was born on March 1, 1998. He's doing well, but he's also skinnier than I can remember him. I'm pretty sure it's old age, and he may not last another year. His sister died in 2009, at the end of February.
Have I ever mentioned that "Here, (redacted), do this" is not my favorite training method? It's just happened again. On extremely short notice. However, I did, eventually, get all my questions answered, and access to the calendars I need to do the chore in question. I can cope from here.
After work on Friday, I stopped in at my credit union and made a small payment on my couple-of-weeks-old credit card. Since I had clocked in early, after my full eight hours, and stopping at the CU, I still got to my bank in plenty of time to get a money order to pay the second night of the hotel for NN14. It will be a while before I send another one - my next projected expense is the 60K mile check-up on my car, which is scheduled for two paychecks down the road. At the estimated price, it had better be thorough and include a minor fix or two.
I ran into winglion where she works, while I was out doing my payday weekend shopping. Among other things, I asked her if she and her sister (Sara R) were going to be in Detroit, and she said that a LOT of people wanted them there, but .... She did say their situation is looking up, thanks in part to ACA, but .... Don't be surprised if you see more about this - in another diary.
My daughter brought home many of my mother's cooking magazines from Seattle, and has begun trying recipes. This could get interesting. Especially since, when she stopped smoking, she started putting the money into organic, and occasionally fancy/exotic, food.
