Open letter to the people of Wisconsin.
What happened to you? How did you go from Robert La Follette to this:
Among the racist jokes and emails found in recently released documents connected to the criminal probe of Gov. Scott Walker’s 2010 campaign, one stood out: A “joke” about a woman trying to sign up her dogs for welfare, because “my Dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no frigging clue who the r Daddys are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care, and feel guilty.” The punchline: “My Dogs get their first checks Friday.”
Walker’s deputy chief of staff Kelly Rindfleisch replied: “That is hilarious. And so true.”
I can only hope Ms. Rindfleisch spends time behind bars, comes out an ex-con and becomes familiar with being labeled and disrespected.
This morning I felt such anger when I read this:

It's an old scandal, but one I was not familiar with and it is so putrid and so revolting that it boggles my mind. After treating those in need exactly like the quote above would suggest these folks would be treated by a man like this, Wisconsin made this man their governor, and doubled down on that in the recall.
I grew up in Wisconsin, it was a good life and a beautiful state. We had Democratic governors and republican governors, but we never had a governor that was such a racist, smug, lying, son of a bitch. And sneaky as hell.
Read the article to find out how Walker denied thousands of their benefits, until a load of lawsuits from the abused forced the state to take over the county's relief program.
This may be old news to some of you, but to me it was another OMG moment.
What happened to you Wisconsin? Republican or Democrat, to paraphrase Ted Kennedy
"have you no decency?" That's what shocks me anew. The fact that this sort of thing just didn't matter to the majority in two elections, is...after searching my mind for the right words I come up with this one. SAD. Unbearably sad.
You now have a governor whose right hand found one of the most revolting racist jokes I've ever heard, "hilarious." Who was using illegal e-mails to yuk it up with his staff.
This will never be "old news" the way your governor would like it to be. Because this is the man you elected and this is the man that you entrusted. Twice. This man who would see folks go hungry, and hire people who find that "hilarious." Chris Christie may be his own brand of New Jersey corrupt, but if you ask me, your governor trumps him when it comes to being sheerly despicable.
I understand there are many good people in Wisconsin who fought like crazy to bring you to your senses in the recall. But Wisconsin decided it was more troublesome to have a legal recall, then it was to have this goon sitting at the top of your governance.
As Scott Walker gears up for another election, and is toasted by the national republican party and bandied about as a presidential candidate, I can only hope that the good folks of Wisconsin will find a way to USE every deplorable piece of evidence against this indecent man and rid my home state of his filth. Short of that, I hope what they say is true. "Karma is a bitch."
No, it is not old news. It is today's news. And it is a sad story of the decline of my gorgeous home state.
