After Senator Ted Kennedy died in 2009, his Senate seat was filled for the remainder of the term via special election by then- Massachusetts resident Scott Brown, who beat Martha Coakley. In the 2012 regular election season, Brown thank you sweet heavenly gods above lost to Elizabeth Warren, who holds the seat today.
OK, that wasn't so bad. Why are you bitching about continual election season, brillig?
On February 1st 2013, Senator John Kerry resigned his Senate seat to become Secretary of State. So there was a special primary on April 30th followed by a special election on June 25th, culminating in the election of Ed Markey to fill the seat for the remainder of the term.
Prior to his election to the US Senate, Markey was U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 5th congressional district. Which now was vacant.
Another special primary was held on October 15th followed by a special election on December 10th, in which Katherine Clark won.
Did I mention that Katherine Clark, at the time of the election, was a sitting MA State Senator?
So today was the special primary to fill the MA Senate seat, with a special election scheduled for, and I kid you not... April 1st. All I can say about that is, no matter who wins tonight's primary, they are NOT currently an elected official holding a seat I will need to care about filling.
So, after voting on November 6th, 2012, I've also voted in 2013 on April 30th, June 25th, October 15th, November 5th (regular election for City and School Committee seats), December 10th and so far tonight in 2014. When I went to my polling place today at ~4:30pm, Mr. Brillig and I were the ONLY two names on our page of the voter rolls marked off. I assume voter fatigue has long since set in.
But hey, the regular primary for the 2014 general election is on September 9th, so I'm sure everyone will be ready to start all over, right?

lotlizard's gem in OllieGarkie's analysis of the unfolding Crimean Crisis was overlooked on Monday, but I suspect it may well win Tuesday's Intertubes, too. Also.
From lotac:
In Hunter's diary Rand Paul is running for president. And whatever else you've got, jwinIL14 comes up with the right name for legislation to help the hapless.

I think BlueDragonNH makes a reasoned good argument for a first comment.

Two comments by RockyMtnLib in TomP's Conservatives Condemn Censorship of Stories of "Kind" Slavers and "Contented" Slaves speak well to the conservative framework of morality and ethics.
