Yes, this is the go to reasoning that I am seeing more often coming from the right.
Damn gays are intolerant of my homophobia is what they really mean.
It goes along the same lines as the persecution of Christians when anyone question their talibangelical rantings.
It's the same thinking as women are equal ,but only when obedient; as soon as we start resisting we are sluts. What's sexist about that? Goddamned feminazis.
It's the same reasoning as but but marriage equality will destroy marriage, that marriage equality will somehow adversely affect African Americans, admittedly I still have not got my head around that leap of illogic.
What they really object to and really cannot get their tiny little intellects around is:
That what freedom really means is the ability to be who you really are and to be accepted for so being.
Freedom is not wrapped up in a pile of your own irrational fears and self loathing that you wish to impose upon others.
Freedom is the opposite of intolerance.
I have been to many weddings and civil unions and they all tend to have a common theme, love, nothing more nothing less, is that so terrifying?
OK so I am oppressing them for wanting them to ignore what I am doing?
The mere fact that I couldn't give a damn what they do in their own lives is intolerant?
Merely asking for the right to be treated exactly the same as anyone else threatens them?
Now that is some leap of illogic.
