We are a land run by groups with unlimited reach, and limited visibility. Yet, if you lift up rocks you'll find the Koch Brothers. Billionaires who are attacking our social security and voting rights. Kochs are behind many of the most dangerous attacks on what few freedoms and rights we still have.

What can be done? Boycotting is nice, but it is time to be focusing on Koch assets and tax free IRS status. Their assets can be seized by our government for destroying our world. That's not enough. Lets nationalize their companies. Gandhi found a way to make workers stop working. Why can't we? Targeting their bottom line is a great way to fight the ultra wealthy. Block their gates. Organize a strike. Pick a target, make sure their products never even get to market. Shaking your fist at someone does nothing. It isn't hard to make a company unprofitable. There are so many legal things that people can do today. Go to your local store, and demand they stop carrying Koch products. Local protests scare retailers. Chick-fil-A owns their distribution venue. Koch doesn't. Everyone needs something, right? Companies are no different. Every Billionaire has a supply chain. Teflon requires chemicals, paper requires trees, and oil requires contracts and trucks. They want to take away what we need, time for the Koch to suffer hardship just like the rest of the citizens they've given cancer to.

Every company is concerned with a thing called 'Market Penetration'. As an activist, why aren't you? You have a brand, it is in competition with the Kochs for the soul of the country. Ask not what you can do for your country, but what you can do against the Koch brothers. They are dependent on you and 88 million in government subsidies. Yet, they want to take food out of my mouth. As a food stamp recipient, a college graduate, and son of a union worker, it's us vs. the Kochs. How much influence do the Koch brothers have in the running of your local government?

Politicians fear one thing. Losing their office. On a local level, do your representatives have Koch connections? Call them. Ask. Ask them what they think of ALEC. Ask them what they are doing to stop Citizens United. Theodore Olson, the Koch's general Council was the lead attorney of Citizens United. It's the Koch's baby, so is the XL Pipeline. The Kochs are responsible for destroying  and North Carolina and Virginia's water supply. Why should they a transcontinental pipeline ? They are behind the chaos in Wisconsin and own Gov. Walker, who admitted to trying to crush unions, labor rights and is attempting to sell power plants from the state so the Koch owns them all, in an outright monopoly.

How much effect do the Koch have on your state? I'm talking about you. The Koch want to hurt you and your family. Chances are they already have by polluting your water, air, and body with toxic chemicals, cancer and disease. This is not a liberal/democrat issue. They intend to take over the Libertarian CATO Institute, just because they can. The Kochs are also behind attacks on the Affordable Care Act, and women's reproductive rights. The Koch brothers are doing their even best to make sure we starve and die. This is a issue of protecting our Democracy and our world. This is an issue that binds us together as a nation. The Koch family wealth started with Stalin. Our country started in attacking the East Indian Tea Company. There is nothing more patriotic then trolling the super rich. Our country is built on it. The first step to a freer country is removing the cancer that is Koch Industries. Or, we can let them kill wages, jobs, unions, freedom, and our families and our country can metastasize in a cesspool of greed and pollution, or we can effect change. The time is now. Thomas Paine said, “Where knowledge is a duty, ignorance is a crime”. This is our world. It is time to take care of it's cancer. Decades of letting things be have gotten us into the mess we are in now. It is a time for active citizenship before we become the United States of Koch.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

This site is about beating the Kochs and the Kochfiends at the ballot box, not about nationalizing their companies.

Just about everything else you say about how bad they are is right on.

You can't make this stuff up.

    •  The Kochs need to be defanged, dsbut how to do (0+ / 0-)

that.  Just beating candidates at the polling place does not deal with their inexhausible pot of $, which they can use to harass and drain our resources.  There must be a way to get them more directly so they scream with outrage and then slink back under their favorite slimey rock.  The sooner we deal with them the better, ofcourse they can't last forever but their 4 might still be used to degrade our culture long after the devil takes them both.

    •  The use of the ballot box is just one technique (0+ / 0-)

that we can use to beat plutocrats like the Kochs.  We have to use other strategies and tactics as well. Public shaming, boycotts, supporting more ethical corporations and  main street businesses that offer alternatives to Koch products,  consuming less in general and creating small local economies that don't depend on products from the likes of the Koch brothers.  And we must use the legal system to the greatest extent possible to bring them down. Remember it wasn't the murder and mayhem that eventually doomed All Capone. It was the tax evasion. And huge public demonstrations at Koch facilities. We must consider these tools as well as the ballot box and leave our options open as recent history shows the ballot box has shown relatively little success in stopping the Koch agenda outside of a few social issues.

      •  I agree, but "nationalizing their companies?" (0+ / 0-)

I don't think Kos wants to encourage "Castro/Chavez" solutions here. He wants to elect more and better Dems, as far as I know.
        It's a new user.
The Koch's (I like the singular here, like the Borg) prescription for America is a literal  life and death issue for some people, so I liked most of the framing of the diary.
But you never know when someone is going to come in and talk a good game and then take  you someplace you don't want to go.

The dirty thing that people don't talk about is sometimes you have to de-fang a cobra and split up a monopoly.  Just because they are privately owned doesn't mean they get to be kings. Sorry. You fight a army with an army and A Koch with a monopoly anti-trust suit.

Freeze their assets, bring them to trial. What was that that Voltaire said about hanging admirals to raise morale?

          •  An ultra-progressive estate tax with no (0+ / 0-)

avoidance clauses would be a good start.

            Take 93% above $1-billion.

            No "family trust" exceptions.

            No "estate planning" exceptions.

Bust 'em up and use the proceeds.

    •  D54-yrs was a "pat-slap" comment; give the diarest (0+ / 0-)

a break. The original was a long, thoughtful diary with many links to document its theses.

Clearly it took a long time to compose, and was driven by positive passion.

It's easy to be a critic (I'm doing it here, myself).

So let's be generous with each other's work on this site,
while still critiquing for constructive benefit.

      "Critique" means "objective evaluation."

Objectively, it seems your comment was meant to be supportive in the end, as mine is meant to be.

      The Kochs are dangerous oligarchs.
They clearly display Stalinist style in organizing their front groups; their emotionally-exploitive, astroturf Tea Party; and their captive-intellectual think tanks.

Let's unite to beat them, fair, square, and finally.

Give me a good reason their assets shouldn't be seized?

Explain it to me simply, why is taking some really rich people's toys away form them a bad thing for the world ten, fifteen, twenty years down the line?

Just explain it to me simply. Help me understand.

  •  If they get their keystone XL pipeline. . . (0+ / 0-)

. . .they will be so flush with cash they will be able to completely override democracy. They will become, in essence, evil kings. With the Citizens United ruling, they are damned near there anyways.

of greatest concern is the Supreme Court. We cannot allow any more republicans the choice of making Supreme ourt nominees. We must take charge there. Any vote for any Republican, is working against democracy and working for more idiocy on the Supreme bench.
