Thursday on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart issued the #mcconnelling challenge. If you missed the idea, last week Mitch McConnell's campaign posted an "ad" consisting of nothing but PR film backed by insipid music, ready for any Superpac to grab footage without "coordinating" with McConnell's senate re-election campaign.
Stewart noted that the film footage could be hooked together with different background music and still make sense.
To me it was obvious what the music should be -- I went to my first Grateful Dead show in 1978. The only problem was I really have a tiny amount of experience in putting together a video -- and, me being me, I of course couldn't be satisfied with a 15 second clip. I had to go all out for two minutes worth. And of course I ran into problems getting it from Photoshop Elements (yes, I have the program; I just haven't had a reason to learn how to use it very well) to a shareable format. But I finally managed.
The video is far from perfect -- but pretty damned good for a first effort, I think.
So over the Great Orange Satan Squiggle of Despair is Terrapin #McConnelling... or McConnelling Station, whichever you prefer.
