Sunday. Not a huge amount going on.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
However, there has been a certain amount of amusement lately.
For one thing, on Saturday I was trying to get my shower warmed up so I could take one and I didn't notice my cat in the tub till after I had actually got the showerhead going. It didn't faze him at all - he just stood there drinking and getting wetter and wetter, and the back end of him was pretty soggy by the time he decided to climb out. He didn't particularly appreciate getting toweled off, but it was either that or let him drip all over the hallway.
My countertop dishwasher went spectacularly belly-up Saturday morning. Fortunately, I did just get a new credit card, and one of the reasons was to pay for things that were both important AND urgent. I have no objection to saving money to pay for a new computer, since there are workarounds I have discovered for the quirks my present one is displaying, but a dishwasher ....
I've almost finished the new Discworld book, Raising Steam. A considerable amount of amusement, I should have said.
My ankle is functioning properly again - though I did manage to do something to my knee while sound asleep a few days back. I believe I need to move around more during the day, since the longer I walked, the less it hurt yesterday.
My firstborn has taken up baking bread. Her kids love it. I haven't had enough of it to have a real opinion, but it seems pretty decent to me. She says she has the 5 Minutes a Day for Artisan Bread cookbook, and it seems pretty straightforward. She's like a kid in a candy store, actually.
