So O´Keefe tries a re run of his Acorn hit, but this time receives a major smackdown from a Texas Judge.
It seems a coupleof months ago, O´Keefe´s Project Veritas released a video claiming illegal practices by Battleground Texas - a progressive voter registration group. In this video, he accuses a Battleground Texas volunteer of illegally copying confidential information off of the voter registration documents - namely the voters phone number.
Based on this video, three upstanding Texans, Steve Dallas, Douglas Saegesser and Kathryn Dulansk lodged a formal complaint based on Texas election laws.
After a series of three recusals (did anyone know that Texas judges actually recuse themselves?) because the judges were facing elections, the case landed up in the court of Judge Angellini who appointed two special prosecutors (one GOP, One Dem) to investigate.
After reviewing the evidence ( O´Keefe´s video), they recommended the compaint be dismissed for insufficient evidence and failure to state an offense.
BUt here is the money quote:
The Veritas video was littlemore than canard and political misinformation. The video was particularly unprofessional when it suggested that the actions of Battleground Texas were advocated by a Texas gubernatorial candidate and that the actions of a single volunteer deputy registrar may even involve private health data, which is not involved in the voter registration process,
