As substance-free in New Hampshire as he was in Massachusetts.
Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Carpetbagger Brown will
formally announce his run for Senate in New Hampshire Thursday by trying to reignite the tea party fervor that got him elected the first time around and attacking Obamacare, the law that is providing health insurance to his daughter.
"Along with our money and our health plans, for a lot of us, it feels like we're losing our liberty, too. Obamacare forces us to make a choice, live free or log on—and here in New Hampshire, we choose freedom," Brown planned to tell supporters Thursday night. […]
Brown also argues that Shaheen was the "deciding vote" to pass the health overhaul law—a label Republicans can apply to any Democrat since the bill passed with the exact number of votes necessary to avoid a GOP filibuster.
"A lot of people aren't aware of that vote to pass Obamacare. But it's important to know if we are ever going to get past Obamacare and get America moving in the right direction," Brown said. "I am running to be a true independent voice for New Hampshire—I am running to hold Senator Shaheen accountable."
No mention, apparently, of the fact that
his family has benefitted from the law, allowing one of his adult daughters to have insurance on his family plan. Brown tried to dismiss his apparent hypocrisy, and his vote for the forerunner to Obamacare when he was in the Massachusetts legislator, by falling back on the states' right mantra. Allowing adult children on parents' plans
might be something a state would do, he argued, so it was a-okay with him.
Brown apparently also isn't going to talk about what he proposes to do for the 22,000 people in New Hampshire who now have insurance because of Obamacare. Like the Richardsons, those folks who gave him such an awkward lesson about Obamacare when he was trying to have a photo-op with them. When Brown called the law a "monstrosity," Herb Richardson immediately replied that the law was a "financial lifesaver" for him and his wife, who added "Thank God for Obamacare!" Brown didn't have any answer for the Richardsons at the time, and he still doesn't.
10:57 AM PT: Hmmm. Maybe Obamacare bashing isn't really the way to go for Scottie.
