I increased one of my medications Sunday and I was warned it might cause insomnia when the doctor said to increase to two pills after a week. Yup, insomnia. And a really long day tomorrow (later today), and I am down to a maximum of 3 hours of sleep at this point. However...
There are advantages to having insomnia this night of all nights. It is cold, but not unbearable, and I could stay out for a while to admire the skies.
And look what I saw when I went outside:
Okay, not the greatest, but it gives a sense of the colour and the weirdness of the moon in shadow. I went out earlier, before I realized this was going to be a REALLY long night, and got this image of the earth moving in front of the moon:
About 1:50 am Central Daylight Time.
And then when I went out about 2:45 am I got the first and this last image. In order to get a decent sized moon in the image I had to make it too high magnification to get Mars in the picture as well. But Mars and the moon brought out the red in each other. What a lovely site. Sorry about you folks on the east coast who have our rain from yesterday. I will take the cold to see a sight like this.
I would love to see your photos in the comments. If, like me, you have insomnia, or are generally a night owl.
