Marionville, Missouri mayor Don Clevenger
Frazier Glenn Cross has officially been charged with murder in Kansas and awaits federal charges after a hate-filled shooting spree at Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, Kansas, over the weekend.

OzarksFirst.com reached out to Marionville, Missouri, residents who knew Cross and while most of the community objected to his actions, they were not surprised. Unfortunately, Marionville Mayor Don Clevenger said he agreed with many of Cross's views:

Marionville Mayor Daniel Clevenger says he once called Cross his friend, and has known the man since the early 90s, having done automotive work for him.

"It's really not much of a surprise that he would do something like that, knowing how much hate was built up in him," Mayor Clevenger said.

Mayor Clevenger took office last Thursday, and says that the "hatred" harbored inside of Cross may stem from his time served in Vietnam.

"They pretty much force race relations on you," according to Clevenger.

Clevenger says he doesn’t condone the actions of his former friend, but says he does agree, in part, with some of the views Cross has.

"Just about these corporations that are ruing this country, pretty much destroying us," says Clevenger referring to part of the Jewish race.

"The industries that I talk about are run by Jews, that's nothing that he understands, because he doesn't believe any of that stuff.  But that probably might have been what cause him to do that," said Clevenger.

More on Mayor Don Clevenger below the fold.

Springfield, Missouri's KSPR has even more:

"Kind of agreed with him on some things but, I don't like to express that too much," said Clevenger.

That hasn't always been the case. Nearly a decade ago, Clevenger wrote a letter to the editor of the Aurora Advertiser.

"I am a friend of Frazier Miller helping to spread his warnings," wrote Clevenger. "The Jew-run medical industry has succeeded in destroying the United State's workforce."

The letter continued.

"Made a few Jews rich by killin' us off."

He also spoke of the "Jew-run government backed banking industry turned the U.S into the world's largest debtor nation."

Years later, Clevenger's views haven't seemed to change.

"There some things that are going on in this country that are destroying us. We've got a false economy and it's, some of those corporations are run by Jews because the names are there," he said. "The fact that the Federal Reserve prints up phony money and freely hands it out, I think that's completely wrong. The people that run the Federal Reserve, they're Jewish."

For what it's worth, in the interview with Ozark First, Clevenger say he thought authorities should "probably pursue the death penalty. And that maybe be what (Cross) wants."

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
