Blumenauer said it’s time for police to focus on real drug abuse. He said pot should be regulated, taxed and should help fund local government projects.
"I think we get real. We do the research. We work to keep it out of the hands of kids. We don't pretend something that's not true," he said.

Since the days of "Reefer Madness" the public has been fed a diet of outright lies in an attempt to criminalze an herb that has been used medicinally for eons.
It is more than past time for us to look to the facts on this aspect of the war on drugs. In practice it has served to fill our jails with minorities. Allow established judicial practice established by the Magna Carta to be ignored. Militarized our police. And cost taxpayers upwards of a trillion dollars.
