Ok.
This diary is going to be short, sweet and to the point.
Kansas and Missouri are both facing major ballot initiatives and house races this year. Despite the hand wringing, having spent the last year and more than 19k miles on my car traveling from back and forth, I believe that there are unique opportunities in both states to at least make things interesting.
While there are PACs and Candidates and movers and shakers that I speak with and work with (at times), I think there are opportunities here that require some truly out of the box thinking.
Working with others, we are trying to bring about a significant shift in discussion.
People tend to think those kinds of things are difficult. Let me tell you, 8 years ago I watched two Republicans, outsiders and (frankly) crazy people conduct a strategy that absolutely changed policy from top to bottom in Kansas and Missouri.
It's time to flip the playbook. As involved as I can be, it takes several people.
So, I'm offering something unique.
If you are in Kansas or Missouri, and you are thinking about going to NN, I will offer 2 people (one Kansas, one Missouri) coverage of your NN fee + your airfare to travel. (From St. Louis or KC airports, I can't get rates at smaller regionals)
What do I ask in return? Well, from now until November, you're going to have to be willing to work.. not a lot, but we're going to try and make some changes in our states.
So, if you're willing to spare about 4-6 Hours at NN to look at the Kansas and Missouri layouts, and you're willing to have a few meals in beautiful Detroit in July, contact me.
Only those with real comment or diary history here at DK will be considered, for fairly obvious reasons.
(Note: if you struggle with rooms, I'm already booked and I sleep on the floor, so worst case you're welcome to crash at the Marriot :)
10:56 AM PT: Minor update.. while I can do the combo offer for two, I'm trying to see if maybe I can at least offer another 2 or 3 their registration fees. I'm thinking right now I can. But I'll weed through the PMs.. I've got at least two who are (potentially) interested now, but I'll see what I can work out.. right now, interest is KS.. so if you're in Missouri.. ESPECIALLY Northwest OR SouthEast Missouri, most definitely let me know!
ALSO I don't plug often, but if you're in Kansas, check out my most recent (more issue oriented) diary:

It contains a video, and the story of Leota Coats and it is one of the more powerful moments I have on film that destroys the myths of why teachers need tenure.
