Ain't coincidence wild?
Today begins National Nurses Week, an annual celebration of the men and women who care for the ailing and infirm, checking the vitals, lifting people twice their weight from bed to bed and cleaning up the ugliest messes you can imagine, all day, every day.
By chance, I had to accompany someone on a quick, unplanned trip to everyone's favorite vacay spot, the hospital and, due to the understandably agonized cries of the patient in the next bed (multiple bone fractures), I'm awake tonight to offer my appreciation.
These folks are truly amazing. They serve all of us, when we're at our most vulnerable (and least patient and polite), calmly and patiently. They are the real backbone of the medical world, and the "care" in "healthcare."
If you know a nurse, or happen to run into one this week, let them know how much they mean.
They are invaluable.
