Three and a half years ago I wrote a diary about President Obama's plans to put solar panels back up on the White House and thus officially and visually bury Ronald Reagan's anti-renewables legacy:

Obama White House going solar!
byLawrence
Jimmy Carter started it all by installing solar panels on the White House and pushing hard for renewables and energy independence.
Then came Reagan/Bush and 30 years of a Republican-driven agenda and the U.S. went from being on the forefront of the renewables industry to being a laggard.

Many were wondering when it would finally happen, some were doubting that it would happen, at all. But now, once again, President Obama came through. And they've made an informative video about it all:
How far we have come with solar power since Obama took office! The industry has grown by leaps and bounds and the U.S. has finally become one of the world's largest markets for solar power. We still have a long way to go and lots of work to do, but we are finally on the right track. And thus, I will celebrate this day by repeating the thanks I gave to the President in the diary three and a half years ago:
Thank you, President Obama! We appreciate this important gesture and hope and expect that you will continue to push for an energy-independent future based on renewables and lots of green jobs.
GOTV, people! For the sake of the environment, our children's and grandchildren's future, and for all those people hungry for green jobs that make a difference.
