Received this e-mail today from Senator Mark Begich (D. AK):
When our seniors get sick, they depend on Medicare to help pay their bills. And why shouldn't they? They've done their part and it’s been promised to them. We've got to live up to this and work to safeguard the program.
But extremists in Washington want to scrap Medicare’s guaranteed care in favor of a voucher program that could leave seniors out in the cold when it comes to getting the health care coverage they need and deserve.
That’s a terrible idea, and thirteen of us in the Senate are doing something to stop it. It’s called the Medicare Protection Act, and it promises to protect a program that more than nearly 50 million Americans depend on.

I’m not Medicare-eligible for another decade (who’s counting?), but this is bigger than my generation or my parents’ generation. This is about fulfilling the promise that growing old in America does not mean growing poor -- not now, not tomorrow, not ever.
We can do this. You can help. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Sincerely,
Mark
