Yes, this is just one poll and the first to show Jason Carter up over incumbent Red Nathan Deal in the race to be next Guv 'nor in Georgia. But it is a commanding lead beyond the margin of error. Since Rasmussen botched 2012 so badly they have bought out Scott Rasmussen and reformulated their rancid "likely voter" screen to the point that they have been a D leaning source this season. That may be off or they may be onto something. Regardless, this is just a piece of the polling puzzle but it is a piece we are seeing more and more often these days: Dems leading in the deep South.
Incumbent Republican Nathan Deal trails Democratic challenger Jason Carter by seven points in Rasmussen Reports’ first look at the Georgia gubernatorial race.
A new statewide telephone survey of Likely Georgia Voters finds Carter with 48% support to Deal’s 41%. Three percent (3%) like another candidate in the race, while seven percent (7%) are undecided.
IF Jimmy Carter's grandson can win in the heart of Dixie this may show that the thrall under which the GOP has become the Party of the Bigoted, the Mean and the Stupid may be lifting.
Pollsters are often the last to notice a changing constituency. While the MSM clings to the notion that this will be 2010 all over again the facts on the ground just don't stand up to scrutiny. Recent polling has shown Dems with leads in Senate races the GOP keeps harping are competitive including AR, ,NH, OR, MI, IA and NC while deep Red Kentucky and Georgia have shown Dem leads recently. Generic Congressional projections, while all over the map consistently have Democrats favored to run the House. An inability to push forward on progressive goals combined with a natural 6 year itch are tamping down Democratic turnout projections but the untold story is that Republican enthusiasm is also very low, far below the Post-Obamacare pitch the right wingers enjoyed in 2010. I expect we will need to wait until 2016 to take back the Hizzie but GOP Senate hopes seem to be dimming with each sunrise. This certainly isn't an electorate itching to give the keys back to the Party Of No.
