I assume that many of you are as disgusted as I am with the antics of Open Carry Texas. Notably, the most recent episode involving the harassment of a Marine Veteran as covered by Mother Jones -- http://www.motherjones.com/...
These idiots are not about to let up, as evidenced by news about an event today at a Home Depot in North Richland Hills -- http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/...
According to a store manager cited in the article, Home Depot does not sponsor such events. However, if true, someone needs to tell Open Carry Texas the news, as the Open Carry Texas webpage lists another Home Depot at 2013 U.S. 377, Keller, Texas as one of its "gun friendly zone" map -- http://www.opencarrytexas.org/...
Among other places, they also list a Subway Restaurant in San Antonio as gun friendly.
As other Diaries have noted, many business owners are quickly catching on to the PR nightmare that comes with being associated with such events. I suspect that many of the "gun friendly zones" identified on the Open Carry Texas map may well even be clueless as to their classification as "gun Friendly" by Open Carry Texas - and may well appreciate a heads up. And if they aren't, well, its high time that they were reminded about the number of customers who do not like idiots parading high powered assault rifles in their stores.
So I am going to begin by writing Subway International, and asking them about their open carry policy. I hope some of you will join me in contacting them also, as well as some of the other names on Open Carry's list of gun friendly locales.
