John Bonham was born May 31st, 1948, and would have been 66 today.Bonham joined a group formed to finish out the contracted gigs of British rock/blues band The Yardbirds, which had just had it's final breakup, and the name and responsibility for the last few jobs passed to the guitarist, Jimmy Page. Bonham joined when he was recommended by friend, singer Robert Plant, and the last piece was Page's friend and fellow recording studio musician John Paul Jones on bass and occasional keyboards. Page called the band The New Yardbirds for the few remaining contract obligations, mostly in Sweden and Denmark...
