A special birthday wish for a special community member.
As I was searching for diaries honoring those who regularly read but seldom comment, behavior which is affectionately known as lurking, I came across this one by cfk, Bookflurries-Bookchat: Who We Are: Welcome to my friend Rachel and Other Lurkers. I really love what cfk wrote about Community Diaries:
Robyn Serven had a weekly diary, The Teacher’s Lounge, and she taught me the most important thing about a weekly series. She said the door was open and she would be near by. I took that to heart when I visited the Lounge and when I started Bookflurries that was my model. I wanted to create a safe haven. The door is open for everyone who likes to chat about books, movies, plays, quotations, ebooks, and yes, Rachel…traveling.
You see, nomandates messaged me that she was unable to post a diary this evening and she wanted to make sure we wished a very special community member a
Happy Birthday. This person seldom comments, but that's the thing about a community like this one.
As Robyn said so eloquently, and as cfk reiterated, the door is always open in our virtual kitchen for her and for anyone who wants to kibitz, for whatever reason. Or to just sip a beverage and hang out with us. We're honored that you choose to spend time with us each evening.
And so we wanted to reach out today with a special shout-out:
Happy Birthday, Aunt Pat!

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
