Received this e-mail today from Natalie Tennant's (D. WV) U.S. Senate campaign:
When I think about Medicare, I think about my 86-year-old father and folks just like him around our state and our nation.
You see, the quality healthcare that my father and millions of others like him rely on is under attack – it makes my blood boil.
This spring, the U.S. House of Representatives passed their extreme budget, which includes a plan that would break our promises to seniors and destroy Medicare as we know it, converting it into a “premium support” system driven by private insurance vouchers.
That’s why I’ve joined with colleagues throughout our great country in calling on Congress to preserve the guarantee of Medicare for our seniors. Your voice can truly make a difference, and I hope you’ll add your name to my petition today.

Medicare should not be a partisan issue. This is an issue of putting our seniors first and making good on the promises we made them.
Yet this past April, my opponent, Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, voted for the extreme budget, putting her own political agenda above the needs and interests of 392,021 West Virginia seniors who rely on Medicare – more than a fifth of our state’s population!
That vote certainly does not reflect the West Virginia values that govern my decisions – it’s just plain wrong.
Please, help do right by our seniors and tell Congress to protect Medicare.
